Eric Schroeder is the Director of the Summer Abroad Program and a lecturer at UC Davis. As an undergraduate he studied for a year on EAP at the University of Sussex in England, where he returned a year later to do his Master's degree in Renaissance Studies. He has taught at Davis since 1984, when he completed his PhD at UCLA. He has taught in the Summer Abroad Program since 1988, offering courses in Scotland, Australia, and South Africa. He also has taught for the English Department, American Studies Program, the Integrated Studies Program, the Nature and Culture Program, and as of June 2004, the newly created University Writing Program where he currently teaches. With John Boe, he co-edits Writing on the Edge, a nationally recognized journal in the field of composition studies, and for the English Department at UCD he founded and edited Prized Writing, an annual anthology of award-winning student writing. In 1996, Dr. Schroeder won the Academic Federation's Excellence in Teaching Award and in 2008 he won the James H. Meyer Distinguished Service Award for his service to the campus.
