Promoting international education and experiential learning opportunities has been an integral and rewarding part of my responsibilities during my ten years working for UC Davis. At the Internship & Career Center, Marcie Kirk Holland and I worked together to promote international internships and career opportunities. As an academic advisor in the Department of Psychology I encouraged students to incorporate international experiences into their education plans. One of the most rewarding aspects of my job has always been hearing from students who return from abroad and seeing how profoundly their lives have been impacted.

My commitment to cross-cultural experiences extends beyond the world of work. I have hosted students from Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Chile and Colombia in my home through the Worldwide International Student Exchange Program at UC Davis Extension. Hosting these students enhanced my appreciation for the richness of cultural exchange and strengthened my desire to help our students to experience similar growth opportunities abroad.

I encourage you to study abroad. International experiences will expand your world view and enhance your appreciation for other cultures. I believe that now more than ever a whole-world perspective is a critical part of the well-rounded education.
