EAP Program Academic Integration Specialist

ellettWelcome to the EAC!  I am the Academic Integration Specialist for the EAC as well as an advisor for the GIS Minor and GE petitions.  Of primary importance in my job is to work to integrate study abroad into all majors and colleges at Davis.  Study abroad will become a regular part of your degree, rather than an “add-on.”  I can testify to the benefits of living overseas and I can’t say enough about what a great experience it is personally and academically.  I lived in Melbourne, Australia for the better part of four years and worked as an advisor for American students coming to study abroad.  The best part of my job there was witnessing the transformation of each student from arrival to departure.   The evolution of self is a powerful movement and it was great to experience this alongside my students in Melbourne.

My academic background is in plant physiology and I’m an Aggie alumnus.  I always thought that science would be my means for travel until I found the area of education abroad.  I was hooked!

Travel will become a habit for you once you go abroad - I have done the three month Russia/Scandinavia/Europe-see-it-all-backpacking trip and spent some weeks lounging around in Belize and Guatemala.  My travel list is always long and it changes, but it’s a lovely way to think of the future.  For now, I’m thrilled to work in this amazing office full of people so enthusiastic about studying overseas and traveling.

Cheers, Mate.
