Because living and studying abroad changed my life in innumerable profound and positive ways, it’s hard to be objective about this topic. I can say though that at this pivotal time in students’ lives, when a world of options and opportunities are presenting themselves, a study abroad experience can have a deep effect on your life. If you embrace your time abroad with openness, you will learn resilience, independence, increase your cultural awareness and hopefully, make life-long friends—in addition to having a rich academic experience. I have never heard a student who returned from their study abroad program say “I wish I hadn’t done this.” Rather, we hear again and again from our returnees “I wish I had stayed longer” and “I must do this again!” Join the more than one thousand students the EAC helps each year to select the right program and to feel prepared for this next great adventure!
