The interdisciplinary minor in Global and International Studies will enable you to learn about global and international issues at UC Davis as well as abroad. The Minor is designed to award credit for upper division courses taken on an EAC Program, although study abroad is not a required component of the minor.
There are three requirements for the minor. You will need 24 units to fulfill these requirements.
Requirement 1:
One of the following lower division classes:
ANT 2, 4 or 20; IRE 1; POL 2 or 3; SOC 5
You can determine if a course you took at a California Community College is equivalent to any of the above at www.assist.org
Requirement 2:
One, 3 or 4 unit, upper-division course taken at UCD with an emphasis in Global and International Studies. View the list of these courses.
Requirement 3:
A cluster of upper-division courses, totaling 16 or 17 units in the area of Global and International Studies, taken either at UCD or while studying abroad. These courses may or may not be on the list of classes for Requirement 2, however, they need to be international in focus and have a common theme among them. Here is an example of what we expect to see for your cluster.
Advising process for the Minor
Your EAC GIS advisor will email you when your petition has been signed. If all the advisors' signatures are on the Petition, the GIS Advisor will forward the original petition to your College(s). If you still need to meet with other advisors, your petition will be returned to you.
Timeline: Your GIS Minor Petition Form will need to be submitted to your College the first two weeks of the quarter you plan to graduate. Click here for approximate deadlines.
