UC Education Abroad Programs
NOTE: The following EAP programs are recommendations from our advisors, but do not include all opportunities available for your major. Please refer to the EAP website for information on all programs and coursework.
- Undergraduate Design on EAP-2008

- Middle East Technical University– Ankara, Turkey (Industrial & Graphic Design)
- Massey University– Palmerston North, New Zealand (all areas) (Spring, Year)
Before you go – Design majors are strongly encouraged to study abroad! You need to meet with your staff advisor before you go to have your proposed courses reviewed. Preparatory, electives and core requirements can all be taken abroad. You must take Design 1, 40A or 40B at UC Davis.
While you are abroad – Design department will not make course approvals while you are abroad, only in extreme cases. Be sure you do your work before you leave!
When you return – You will need to complete and submit a Modification Petition and include syllabus and course description of the course you would like to use for your major.
Advisor Tips
- Use related subject areas when selecting courses (art, art history, architecture, etc.)
- Preparatory subject matter and electives can be taken abroad.
- Depth subject matter can satisfy a maximum of 2 studio courses and 2 design history courses.
- You must submit course descriptions prior to departure for preliminary approval and must submit course syllabi upon return for final approval.
