Education Abroad Center (EAC) Internship Opportunities
Whether you study abroad with UC Davis Summer Abroad, UC Davis Quarter Abroad, or the UC Education Abroad Program, consider enhancing your experience by including an internship or service learning project.
Where to get your internships:
UC Education Abroad Program (EAP)
Opportunities for independent research projects and internships are available at most EAP locations. Students either apply to a program that has an internship opportunity built-in, or indicate interest in an internship at the time of application. EAP operates Study Centers in each of its program locations. Study Centers can help students find internships and/or volunteer opportunities once students arrive in country. To learn more visit the EAP website http://eap.ucop.edu or talk to an EAP advisor.
UC Davis Quarter Abroad (QA)
UC Davis Quarter Abroad offers several programs with an internship component for students wishing to gain hands on experiences abroad! Students receive UC Davis credit and are supervised by UC Davis faculty members in these unique programs that combine study and internships.
- Mexican Health & Culture Internship - Oaxaca, Mexico - This specialized program for those interested in health provides the opportunity to take UCD classes on transnational (US-Mexico) health issues and participate in clinical rotations in hospitals and clinics in Oaxaca, Mexico.
- Culture and Internship Program - London, England - From a home base in the lovely borough of Kensington, London participants will complete an internship while taking two upper division English courses focusing on the rich culture, literature and history of England. This program offers great variety. Past students have been placed in the British Parliament, PR firms, magazines and newspapers, social service agencies, schools, museums, law firms and more.
- Native American Studies Program - Antigua, Guatemala - The Quarter Abroad program in Guatemala offers the option to add an internship working in governmental and non-profit organizations working to address the needs of indigenous Guatemalan peoples. Students can work in the Guatemalan Ministry of Peace, women’s organizations, and more.
UC Davis Summer Abroad (SA)
Although UC Davis Summer Abroad has no built-in internship opportunities during their four week programs, students are urged to work with the UC Davis Internship and Career Center and/or the faculty member for their program to discuss internship opportunities either before, during, or after their program.
Don’t Forget!
Network with faculty on campus prior to departure to inquire about contacts they are willing to share. It is best to start with faculty that you know well, but you may also consult the Faculty with International Expertise database (http://uoip.ucdavis.edu/internationalfaculty/) to find scholars familiar with your study abroad location.
Transcript notation is possible for all of your EAC internship options. Talk to the ICC for details.
