Research EAP Courses
This five step plan is for students who wish to learn more about the courses you can take on the Education Abroad Program. It is also for students applying for EAP and working on their Academic Planning Form (APF).
The method to use in searching for EAP courses depends on the type of EAP program you choose. EAP offers two different types of study abroad programs: Immersion and Special Focus programs.
| Immersion programs |
|
Special Focus programs |
| Immersion programs allow students to take regular university courses at a foreign university |
|
Special Focus programs offer students the opportunity to take courses in a specific academic field.
Language Intensive programs allow students to learn a new language in its country of origin. Language programs can fulfill first or second year foreign language. |
- Step One: Use the EAP Program Wizard to start your search for EAP programs that best meet your academic needs.
- Step Two: From the EAP Program Wizard or from the EAP Countries page, access the specific Country pages for each program that meets your academic needs.
- Step Three: Visit the EAP Academic Course Information page.

- Step Four: View the links provided for your program type.
For the Immersion programs:
If you plan on taking EAP courses to fulfill any major or minor requirements, follow these steps to academically plan for your study abroad program.
- Visit the host university's website, provided on the EAP country page, and search for updated courses offerings
- The host university's website may offer course listings similar to the UCD Catalog and/or the UCD Schedule of Classes
- If you plan on taking EAP courses to fulfill any major or school requirements, print out the course descriptions and/or syllabi to bring to your meeting with your major or minor advisor.
- While meeting with your academic advisor, begin an Academic Planning Form [link to pdf] to plan out your courses.
- It is important to research information and discuss at least 8 classes per semester abroad with your major advisor.
- Use the EAP Coursefinder to view a record of courses UC students have taken in the past on your program
- Note: Coursefinder is a historical record of courses students have taken in the past. Not all of these courses may be offered the term(s) that you study abroad.
- Print out the course descriptions from Coursefinder to take to your meeting with your academic advisor.
- While meeting with your academic advisor, begin an Academic Planning Form to plan out your courses.
For the Special Focus programs:
- Visit the links available for your program
- The Special Curriculum programs will provide a listing of courses available for that specific program (courses may be subject to change).
- Some language programs will request students to take a placement exam upon arrival in the foreign country in order to be placed in the appropriate language level.
- Step Five: Receive credit in your Major/Minor for coursework taken on EAP.
