Education Abroad Center
Academic Planning

In order to plan for study abroad, you must meet with your academic advisor(s) on campus during your application process. You will also meet with a program advisor at the Education Abroad Center to discuss the academic courses available on your program.

Where to receive your advising:

  • First Steps Workshop
  • EAC Student Interns – come in and chat to our interns
  • EAC Staff Advisors – make an appointment for EAP and QA programs
  • GE petitions for abroad courses (EAP) – meet with the GE advisor

Departmental Advisor

  • Requirements for major/minor
  • Restrictions on abroad coursework
  • Process for petitioning credit for coursework taken abroad
  • List of abroad courses already approved for majors
  • Communication strategy while you are abroad
  • Major declaration

College Advisor

  • College requirements
  • University requirements
  • Unit Caps
  • Residency Requirements
  • Minimum Progress

Here is a checklist of information to help you design a step by step process to academically plan for study abroad. Not all these issues will pertain to your situation or study abroad program.
